Keenly reminded of how unpopular the photographer can become on a group trip, on this return to Mexico City I took very few photos. It wasn’t necessary anyway, since my friend John Tassos came with us this time and he has a lot better photo gear than I do. On top of that we were a much smaller group, so in total I snapped only fifteen photos—two orders of magnitude less than the year prior.

Armonía’s Santa Cruz facility had just had a new roof put on its second-floor area, but because of the rambling way the building is laid out, there was no staircase on that side, and one would have to walk all the way to the front of the building in order to go down the stairs. Luke, Bert, John, and I assisted in finishing the staircase that Hugo and several others had already started. Each of us had a chance to play with these power “toys” in the course of preparing pieces for hand rails and step frames. John snapped this shot while I was cutting one of the rails.
