This summer one of my trips took me to Mexico City. My church has a long-term relationship with Armonía, a ministry of community centers to reach the poor in Mexico City. I have been there twice already, and this summer was my third trip there.
This collection of photos isn’t directly about what we did on that trip (although we did lots of great things). I’ve posted a description of the trip here if you’re interested. These photos, however, are my choices for “most interesting” from that trip. With over 1,000 photos taken on this trip (even breaking the record from my first trip to Mexico) there’s no way I would post all of them here, anyway.
When we first got to Mexico City we visited the large anthropology museum. I’ve been there before, but last time a few exhibits were closed. This time we saw more stuff going on outside the museum, just as interesting as what was inside.
We spent a lot of time over the week working directly with the children at Santa Cruz. Kids everywhere are in many ways the same. These kids could not help being photogenic.
A few items here or there were interesting enough to try to get close-up shots of. Some of these shots were more successful than others.
I love clouds, sunsets, the drama of the skies… and Mexico City had its share. Even the poor in Mexico City get to enjoy these views.
On our last full day in Mexico we took a trip to the pyramids in Teotihuacan. I had more time on this trip to climb than on my previous visit, but couldn’t quite get the photos I wanted. Aside from being hassled about having a tripod, there were just too many people to get quite what I was hoping for. Still, I did get a few interesting pictures.
I have a lot more memories from this trip, reuniting with old friends and making new friends, plenty of things which I don’t have pictures of, and plenty of things I do have pictures of that are none of your business. (smile) Sometimes, what happens in Mexico… stays in Mexico.
