When you purchase whoosh you need to specify which domain name your personalized copy will be restricted to. This domain name will be the only web site where your personalized copy can be used. If someone tries to take your copy and use it on a different web site, whoosh will refuse to work.
Of course this means it won’t work for you, either, so when you purchase whoosh you need to make sure you provide the correct domain name. Strictly speaking, it is the host name that matters, so if your domain name is mysite.com, the web site host name is likely www.mysite.com and that is what you will need to request when you purchase whoosh. You may place the whoosh.swf file, your web page, the keyframe images, and the audio file anywhere on the site, but it must be accessed through www.mysite.com.
Where this becomes an issue is if your site is accessible with more than one host name. Some web servers are configured to allow requests whether the www. prefix is used or not. whoosh cannot be configured this way. If this affects you, please let me know and we can work something out.
Large Hosting Sites
Because paid versions of whoosh are locked to a particular domain, I will not produce a version which is “locked” to a site that hosts large numbers of personal web sites. (Such a “lock” would then allow all the users of that site to use whoosh for free, which defeats the purpose of having a paid version.) This includes myspace.com, facebook.com, and similar sites. If your purchase includes a request for such a site, I will discuss your purchase with you, and if an alternative site cannot be selected, I will refund your purchase.
Local Files
Locking does not apply to local files. If you want to create a CD with your animations, you can; it will work just fine. Create the web pages like you would to publish them on a web site, and just double-click on them to open them on your computer.
